Encompasses work throughout the entire grant writing process from applying for grants, budgeting, administering funds, and oversight. Grant care workers work with fiscal partners, donors and fundraising.
This hub supports the disabled person in creating a care plan to identify and specify how personal care, support, advocacy and emergency needs will be met by pod and hub members.
Works with all pod members, individually and/or as a group, to navigate the emotional experience of daily life, including challenges presented by racism, transphobia, ableism, etc. Facilitates intra-pod mediation if/when conflicts should arise. Has experience or formal training in providing emotional support.
Works directly with the disabled person in their personal space, tent, or home to meet physical and day to day needs as specified in the care plan, including assisting with nutrition and medical needs, housework, hygiene, etc. Coordinates with hubs for food and supplies. This relationship must be entered with mutual informed consent and trust.
Receive accessibility requests from volunteers and provide appropriate support. Such requests include working with other hubs and working with people to support language barrier needs and supporting hubs with setting up organizational models.
Gathering, storing and dispersing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks and hand sanitizer to those who need it. Herbal, wellness and hygiene supplies, clean clothes for people living outside coming soon! Care workers will coordinate with community care pods, hubs and community partners, forming genuine and long lasting relationships with community.
Conducts combined pickup and shopping trips for multiple pod members. Transports food, prescriptions and supplies to the disabled person’s home or tent following established safety protocols. Delivery workers and pods are matched according to location, and will coordinate payment and deliveries with pod members.
Assists in communication on behalf of the disabled person with hubs, doctor’s offices, pharmacies, institutions, housing, etc.. Also supports resolution of harm or conflict that may arise within the Community Care Pod. This relationship must be entered with mutual informed consent and trust.
This hub is dedicated to people who don’t have access to hygiene, showers, clean clothes and centers those living on the street, camping or in cars. This hub collaborates with other groups and hubs to build this infrastructure, eliminates barriers of accessibility to existing hygiene infrastructure.
This hub outreaches to the community by posting on social media, distributing flyers, etc. This hub creates media such as fliers, digital infographics and collaborates with other hubs for material, messaging and access needs.
Cooks bulk meals for Disabled people based on pre-planned menus. Coordinates with pods and hubs for supplies and delivery. Cooks will be trained in food handling safety, including COVID-19 protocols
Supports Hub and Pod members in navigating digital communication and information sharing platforms. Such platforms include Riot and Jitsi.
Care workers in this hub provide direct and practical support to the disabled person and pod members around the affects of state repression.
Dual Community Care Pods rotate monthly in the role of Leadership Pods to facilitate leadership affecting the entirety of PDX Disabled Support.
